Police said the complainant had alleged that the SDM had sexually abused him for four years and shared a video of the alleged assault

Hisar police arrested the Hansi sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) on Saturday, two days after a Class 4 employee accused the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer of sexual assault and caste abuse.

Police said the complainant, who works in the public health department, had appeared before the investigation team on Friday. He alleged that the SDM sexually assaulted him for four years and shared a video of the alleged assault.

“The HCS officer was suspended on Thursday. He was arrested by Hansi on Saturday,” a police spokesperson said.

The accused has been booked under sections 377 (unnatural offences) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes Act.

Hisar Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Kumar Mohan said the case has been registered under IPC as the incident took place six months ago.

“The medical examination of the suspect was conducted at the civil hospital in Hisar. He will be questioned for further details,” the spokesperson said.

The complainant had said that the HCS officer paid him 200 per day for massage services while stationed in Fatehabad in 2020. “Six months ago he called me for massage services and demanded sexual favors. When I refused, he attacked me at gunpoint and threatened to have me fired as well,” the victim said.

The suspect hired the complainant as a contract employee.

A video of the alleged assault has been making the rounds on social media, although HT could not independently verify its veracity.
