Hangman Page Defeats Swerve Strickland in Steel Cage Match at All Out 2024 | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats & Rumors

AEW

In the latest chapter of one of AEW’s most heated rivalries, “Hangman” Adam Page defeated Swerve Strickland in an unofficial steel cage match at All Out on Saturday.

It was, to say the least, a brutal match.

The final scene began with Page shoving a syringe into Strickland’s mouth, then knocking him out with a chair punch to the head, winning the match after the referee stopped the fight.

However, that was not the only notable moment of this match.

Preparations for Saturday’s match two weeks ago at All In were in full swing when Page showed up during the main event between Strickland and Danielson.

Page distracted Swerve and while it didn’t directly result in him losing the AEW World Championship to Danielson, the interruption could have been interpreted as causing him to lose the match.

The first match between Strickland and Page took place at WrestleDream in October 2023, and they faced each other again the following month in a Texas Deathmatch at Full Gear. Swerve won both bouts, and he also broke into Hangman’s house at one point during the feud, which further inflamed Page.

At Revolution in March, Page and Strickland both faced Samoa Joe in a three-way match for the AEW World Title, which Joe won by making Page forfeit. Afterward, Page disappeared from AEW programming for the next few months.

Upon his return, he entered the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, a tournament to determine the number one contender for the AEW World Title.

Fittingly, Swerve became AEW World Champion during Hangman’s absence by defeating Joe at Dynasty in April, giving Page even more reason to reclaim the title he won in 2021.

Page reached the final of the Owen Hart tournament by defeating Jeff Jarrett in the first round and Jay White in the semi-finals. However, Danielson could not avoid the title: he defeated Hangman in the final, despite his bloody performance.

At All In, Page missed another chance to make a run at the world title, as he failed to win the Casino Gauntlet match. This probably contributed even more to his going crazy and costing Swerve the title.

However, Hangman crossed the line in a notable way on the final episode of Dynamite before All Out, when he set fire to Swerve’s childhood home, which Strickland had just purchased with money from his new AEW contract.

Page and Strickland attempted to settle their differences once and for all in a steel cage at All Out, but it was Hangman who ultimately prevailed over his old rival.
