Hammers want Chalobah to replace Zouma

Since Todd Boehly took charge of Chelsea Football Club, there has not been a dull moment when it comes to the transfer window.

The American does not seem to understand the need for continuity in a first team and sees all players at first glance as commodities to be bought or sold as needed.

That’s all well and good in the business world, but in the world of football things work a little differently.

West Ham set to capitalise on Chelsea decision

Sacking your captain to benefit yourself, as in the case of Conor Gallagher, is a decision that Stamford Bridge fans would not be happy with. Just look at a recent example.

Bringing in highly-rated striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona and then possibly loaning him out straight away, as has happened with other Chelsea stars, could also be a conundrum.

Reports from Sky Sports that West Ham are now seriously considering signing Trevoh Chalobah from their west London rivals, while Chelsea have players in defence ahead of him such as Benoit Badiashile, also appear to have little merit.

Some Chelsea supporters appear to be expressing their feelings on social media.

If Boehly intends to sell Chalobah because, like Gallagher, he represents ‘pure profit’ under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules, then that clearly undermines what Enzo Maresca wants to achieve with the club.

Just as happened before him with Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter.

If Todd Boehly really loves Chelsea Football Club, he should stay out of it and find another platform for his business interests and investments.
