Halle Berry Was Set to Play Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine, But Ryan Reynolds Never Called

X-Men star Halle Berry wanted to play Storm in Deadpool and Wolverine, but Ryan Reynolds never called.

The film was filled with lost Marvel characters, including the titular Wolverine, of course, who was played by original X-Men actor Hugh Jackman. But few of the other major players from those films appeared, not even Patrick Stewart as Professor X or Berry as the weatherman Storm.

“No,” Berry replied simply when asked by ComicBook if she had been asked to reprise her role for Deadpool & Wolverine , even though Reynolds’ wife had personally inquired. “Blake (Lively) asked me once — I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show — and she said, ‘Would you ever be in my husband’s movie as Storm?’ I said, ‘Yeah, if he asked me,’ but he never asked me.”

Berry’s X-Men career began alongside Jackman’s in the original 2000 film. She subsequently portrayed the character in X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Deadpool & Wolverine was a huge success even without Storm, with the film grossing more than $1 billion worldwide at the box office in its third weekend.

In IGN’s 7/10 review, we wrote: “Deadpool & Wolverine is a hilarious superhero comedy full of surprising, self-referential MCU humor and unsurprising plot and pacing issues.”
