Gyokeres transfer: Liverpool aim for Nunez replacement

Liverpool are believed to be preparing for potential transfers to completely overhaul Arne Slot’s attack next summer, with big names such as Viktor Gyokeres and Nico Williams being considered as potential replacements for Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah.

Sources close to the situation have reported CaughtOffside that Liverpool are looking at attackers such as Athletic Bilbao and Spanish star Williams as well as Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, whose contract expires next summer at the Allianz Arena, amid concerns that Mohamed Salah may not stay and sign a new deal at Anfield as the Egyptian player is also out of contract at the end of the season.

Liverpool are also keen to sign Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon for the position, but are reportedly exploring other options as he was too expensive for them last summer. The Magpies are also set to hold fresh contract talks with the England international.

Up front, Nunez still has the support of new manager Slot, but there is a feeling that the club are prepared to replace him at the end of this season if he does not show significant improvement after his inconsistent first two seasons on Merseyside.

Will Gyokeres replace Nunez at Liverpool?

It looks like Sporting Lisbon goal machine Gyokeres will be a priority for LFC if they do replace Nunez, with a number of other top clubs also keeping an eye on the high-performing Swedish international.

Gyokeres has had another great season so far and it seems only a matter of time before a bigger club snaps him up. He also has admirers at Anfield who are considering options to strengthen the attack.
