Green Day comes early to Milwaukee, enjoys seafood from Lakefront Brewery

Rockers Green Day play Am Fam Field on Saturday with The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas, but the band arrived in Brew City a little early.

Andy Junk (aka Andy Jungwirth, the brewery’s export manager) and punk rock musician at Lakefront, posted the above photo with frontman Billie Joe Armstrong on Facebook.

“I was on my way out of Lakefront when a couple of coworkers stopped me and asked, ‘Is that Green Day?’” Jungwirth posted, noting that the band was enjoying the beer hall’s beloved seafood supper just after 5 p.m. Friday afternoon, inside the brewery at 1872 N. Commerce St.

“I immediately assumed I was flying to Berkeley to see a Pinhead Gunpowder reunion show (referring to a band Armstrong is in). He asked, ‘On Gilman Street?’ and I said, ‘No, on Starry Plow in 2000.’ and just left him alone to enjoy dinner.”

According to Jungwirth, the band’s drummer, Tre Cool, arrived a few minutes later.

Armstrong also shared photos of a visit to the Bronz Fonz on his Instagram page…

Armstrong and his team are playing the stadium today as part of Green Day’s The Saviors Tour, which will see the trio perform “American Idiot” and “Dookie” in their entirety.

The show starts at 5:30pm
