Grant money to help volleyball club renovate fields

SCORPIONS YOUTH VOLLEYBALL CLUB

The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. is one of the largest and fastest growing youth beach volleyball clubs in Canada.

Over 700 youth signed up for their outdoor beach volleyball programs in 2024. The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club has had a working relationship with Emerald Lake Waterpark for the past thirteen years to utilize their sand courts. The courts required significant renovation to bring them up to standard.

The club has received a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to partially fund the renovation of three beach volleyball courts at Emerald Lake Waterpark. The renovation of these courts includes the addition of drainage and Olympic volleyball sand.

On Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 6:00 PM, MPP Jess Dixon will join a board of directors from Scorpion’s Volleyball Club for a short opening ceremony to officially open the new courts.

Paul Langan, Scorpions Beach Program Coordinator, said, “Our youth beach program was full. In order to host youth beach tournaments and give more youth the opportunity to play beach volleyball, we wanted to invest in the community. We have had a very positive relationship with Emerald Lake in the past. With this new investment and lease, we look forward to hosting more youth tournaments and programs in the area.

We would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Government of Ontario, for funding much of the renovation of these courts. Investing in healthy youth activities is paramount to the mandates of our club and the Trillium Foundation.”
