Grant Hill: ‘These guys want to be remembered as the best US men’s national team’

Flagg, the consensus top recruit in the Class of 2024, recently played in an exhibition game with the USA Basketball select team against the senior roster ahead of the Olympics. He was the first college player to make the select team since Doug McDermott and Marcus Smart in 2013. He went viral after several highlights surfaced on social media and drew high praise from Kevin Durant. Flagg’s performance also impressed Hill, USA Basketball’s managing director. “I think he’s great,” Hill said Friday on the “Dan Patrick Show.” “He’s going to be a great college player. I think his game will probably resonate and translate better on the NBA stage. He’s young. He’s 17, so he’s still learning. Sometimes when you’re young, you don’t have fear. You don’t even know to be afraid. But he’s got all the tools. He’s got the mentality. He’s got a mean streak in him. He’s not afraid.” -via The Rookie Wire / July 30, 2024
