Graham van Thistle slams ‘unacceptable’ ambulance wait times

Partick Thistle women’s manager Brian Graham has said it was unacceptable that his player Courtney Stewart had to wait three hours for an ambulance after suffering a head injury during the SWPL match against Rangers.

Stewart went down in the 10th minute of the league match at Broadwood Stadium, which Rangers eventually won 4-0.

The midfielder suffered a seizure following a head injury and was treated on the pitch by Rangers medical staff and first aiders before being taken to the dressing room to await an ambulance.

She was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow at around 5pm (BST) on Sunday, three hours after the initial injury.

“I can’t thank the Rangers medical staff and the first aid crew here enough, they’ve been fantastic to her,” Graham told BBC Scotland.

“But I don’t think we can achieve that in men’s football.”
