LUCKNOW: The state government has 10.16 crore for the development of an integrated sports zone in Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow, according to a government statement.

“The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has initiated a bidding process to select an agency that will oversee and implement all construction-related activities as part of the effort to accelerate the development of the sports zone,” a government press release said.

“The selected agency will work closely with LDA officials to ensure that all standards are met, including deadlines and quality benchmarks. After project award, the agency aims to complete all development tasks within a nine-month time frame,” the release said.

The LDA would develop cricket and football grounds along with a skating rink, synthetic badminton, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts and a jogging track as part of efforts to develop amenities in the park.

“All constructions will comply with environmental protection standards and other important guidelines, with a special control mechanism to ensure the high quality of each construction,” the press release said.

“The development will pave the way for regular sports activities, thereby enriching the reputation and popularity of the park. All the planned sports facilities will have state-of-the-art amenities including modern sprinkler systems, lighting and other necessities,” the press release said. Once completed by the LDA, the initiative will provide an opportunity to Lucknow residents and visitors from across the country and even abroad to participate in various sporting events.

As per the LDA plan, the size of the cricket field (playing area) will be 137.16 to 150 yards. The total area of ​​the cricket ground will be 2,1825 square meters, with space for five pitches. According to LDA officials, practice nets will also be available for cricketers. The running track and jogging park will be prepared in an area of ​​11×440 m, while the badminton court will be prepared in an area of ​​8.5×20 m.
