Aaron Rai has won his first PGA Tour event.

The 29-year-old finished 18-under par on Sunday at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina, to claim his first victory.

It was Max Greyserman’s game to lose heading into Sunday’s final. He led for most of the round, but Rai worked his way into the mix down the backstretch. Rai eventually took the lead after Greyserman made four putts on the 16th hole.

Rai played a clean game on Sunday, making no bogeys and recording six birdies. Rai’s strong play, plus Greyserman’s struggles on the final holes, led to his first PGA Tour victory.

After Rai’s victory, fans applauded the golfer as he finally achieved his first victory.

I’m not sure Aaron Rai gets enough credit for how consistent he is as a player. Top-20 finishes in five of his last six starts, three of them top-10. Just shows up week after week and plays well.

Other fans lamented Greyserman’s disastrous finish.

Aaron Rai is definitely a creditable @PGATOUR winner. He’s been playing excellent golf for a few months now and it was only a matter of time before he got it done.
But man, how can you not be sickened by Max Greyserman? Brutal and then some. @WyndhamChamp

Sunday was a good day for Rai fans as he finally became champion after 89 starts. He was knocking on the door of victory with five top-10 finishes this season. Now he finally has a coveted victory at the Wyndham Championship.

Fans of Greyserman had a very different experience on Sunday. The 29-year-old looked destined for victory over the final few holes, but his collapse ultimately denied him his first win of the season.
