Germantown Academy alumnus picked up by Boston Red Sox in MLB Draft

Alex Bouchard, a 2021 graduate of Germantown Academy High School in Fort Washington, was selected by the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, July 16, with the 417th overall pick in the 14th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

Bouchard, a right-handed pitcher, spent his freshman season at Dickinson College before transferring to Lehigh University. In his lone season at Dickinson, Bouchard went 4-0 with a 3.42 ERA and a 10.65 K/9 in 10 relief appearances.

In the classroom, he was named to Dickinson’s Dean’s List for two semesters with a 3.96 GPA and ranked in the top six percent of his class.

He was a varsity letterman for the Patriots for three years, starting all 23 games in the infield during the 2021 season and finishing in the top two in every offensive category.
