German police have found pornographic images of children during a search of the home of Eintracht Frankfurt Under-coach Helge Rasche, who died in a car crash earlier this month, a report has revealed.

The Bundesliga club confirmed the 33-year-old player’s death in a statement on September 6, a day after police reportedly raided the youth team coach’s home.

His death was met with great sadness by the club and even by rivals Borussia Dortmund, who expressed their condolences on social media after it was reported that Rasche’s white Hyundai had crashed into a tree on a road between Dietzenbach and Rodgau, southwest of Frankfurt.

However, according to BILD, the coach was already the subject of an investigation before his death, after a report was filed with the police.

According to the medium, the Frankfurt am Main court has issued a search warrant on suspicion of distributing pornographic material, in accordance with Section 184 of the Criminal Code.

In initial reporting on the incident, the publication reported that his car veered off the road at an intersection with a gravel road and crashed into a tree.

Photos obtained by BILD show that Rasche’s Hyundai was a total loss after the accident, with a collapsed front end.

He reportedly died at the scene of the accident and was seriously injured.
