Gaza rescuers say 400 have been killed in a two-week Israeli assault in the north

Hezbollah said it had fired “a salvo of rockets” at the northern Israeli city of Safed, shortly after announcing attacks on an army base near the city of Haifa. The Israeli military reported that 115 projectiles had been fired from Lebanon.

Since the end of September, the war in Lebanon has killed at least 1,418 people, according to an AFP tally of figures from the Lebanese Health Ministry.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called for strengthening the mandate of the UN peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon to give UNIFIL more room to act amid repeated attacks on their positions.

World leaders again called for an end to the war after Sinwar’s death, which Netanyahu called “the beginning of the end.”

American, German, French and British leaders urged “immediate” action to “bring the hostages home,” end the violence and “ensure humanitarian aid reaches civilians” in Gaza.
