Gautam Gambhir makes emotional farewell video for KKR fans at Eden Gardens – Report

Gautam Gambhir | KKR X

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor Gautam Gambhir has reportedly shot his farewell video at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This comes after it was reported that the BCCI will soon announce Rahul Dravid’s successor as Team India coach.

Several media outlets have claimed that Gautam Gambhir will be the next man in charge and the former cricketer has remained tight-lipped about it. Before Gambhir or the BCCI made an official announcement, reports suggested that the KKR mentor had parted ways with the franchise.

According to the Times Now reportGambhir, a two-time IPL-winning KKR captain, visited the Eden Garden on Friday to shoot a video in which he bid farewell to the franchise and the fans. The video would focus on Gambhir’s journey with the KKR franchise.

The report quoted an official from the Cricket Association of Bengal, who confirmed the former Indian’s presence at the Eden Gardens on July 5 for the season opener.

“It was a modest affair but Gambhir wanted to say goodbye to his fans with a message and so they shot a video at the Eden“, the official told Times Now.

Gambhir won the IPL with KKR in 2012 and 2014. He returned to the franchise in 2024 as a mentor and helped them win their third title under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.

On Monday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said the Indian cricket team will have a new head coach for the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka, starting later this month.
