A fan asked: “How could Sam and Nikita score so low?”

This viewer responded: “Because it’s week one and they came in second, there’s no benchmark. They’re highlighted from the beginning and the dancers who come in later get better marks even though they don’t deserve them.”

A second echoed: “If I remember correctly, she was second? I think that’s why – they don’t know the overall levels at the beginning, so they’re more likely to underline.”

A third said: “Totally agree. If I remember correctly, the comments didn’t seem to match the low scores either. Anton in particular seemed bizarre with his score that night.”

“Judges often score higher later in the show when they are ‘warming up’ and they were one of the first couples,” added a fourth.

While other viewers wondered how Go Compare star Wynne Evans, 52, managed to score higher than some other celebrities.

Sam finished seventh in the standings, with Gladiators star Montell managing to secure fourth position, as did Wynne.

PETE WITH A BROKEN HEART

However, some were not impressed with the qualities of the Welsh singer Wynne and felt that he overachieved.

A confused viewer: “The fact that Jamie (Borthwick), Montell and Sam aren’t older than Wynne was baffling.”

A second posted: “I know! Wynne was entertaining but his footwork was sloppy compared to Jamie, Montell and Sam!”

Strictly Come Dancing fans will recognise the exact moment Pete Wicks becomes furious about the show’s scoring

While JB Gill and Tasha Ghouri topped the leaderboard in week one,

But singer-songwriter Toyah Wilcox, Pete Wicks and Arsenal legend Paul Merson were at the bottom.

This came after fans witnessed the moment reality star Pete was upset about his poor show score.

He performed a Paso Doble with pro Jowita Przystal, 30.

The jury gave a score of 17, with Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke both showing their five paddles.

Still, fans felt he seemed less than impressed when they heard he was in the midfield at the time.

His partner Jowita urged him to believe in himself more, saying, “Tonight you proved that you can do it.

“That’s possible. Because you danced a beautiful Paso Doble and I’m looking forward to a new week of rehearsals.”

They wrote unkindly about the look on his face when he received a five-figure donation, saying, “I’d like to hang this pained grimace in the Louvre.”

Another noted: “Pete already seems unable to handle constructive criticism. I don’t think he can handle it for long.”

Then someone uploaded a GIF that read, “You can usually pinpoint the exact moment his heart split in two.”

Elsewhere, Tasha from Love Island was criticised for scoring 30 points despite her dancing experience.

On Saturday night she shot to second place on the leaderboard, along with Aljaz Skorjanec, after their cha cha to Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter.

But one frustrated viewer wrote: “Tasha only gets high scores, but of course she is a professional dancer. That’s a bit unfair.”

A second posted: “Isn’t Tasha Ghouri a professional dancer? Wasn’t that a thing when she was on Love Island?”
