Fugitive wanted for sexual assault found in Old Lyme

OLD LYME, CT (WFSB) – Police have arrested a fugitive in Tennessee on multiple charges of sexual assault involving a minor.

The fugitive was identified as Kody Tyler Stewart, 30 years old.

Troopers were asked for help finding Stewart Monday morning. Officials believed he lived in Old Lyme.

According to the police, he had firearms in this home.

State troopers were monitoring the home and expected Stewart to return Tuesday.

They returned to the home Tuesday morning and arrested Stewart.

Troopers said Stewart had an unsecured and unregistered firearm in the residence, which was easily accessible to a child living in the home.

He was charged as a fugitive for trespassing with a bond set at $500,000.

Stewart was separately charged with risk of injury with minor and first-degree reckless endangerment. He also received a $10,000 bond.

He is due to appear in court on Wednesday.
