Paramount+ Releases Trailer for Season 2 of “Frasier”

He’s listening: Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the upcoming second season of the original comedy series “Frasier,” the revival of the record-breaking original series.

Filmed in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, “Frasier” sees Kelsey Grammer return as Dr. Frasier Crane in the next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston “to take on new challenges, forge new relationships and — with hope — finally fulfill an old dream or two.” Season 2 sees Crane return to his radio roots as he visits Seattle. Original series stars Peri Gilpin, Dan Butler, Edward Hibbert and Harriet Sansom Harris will all appear as guests in the new season, with other previously announced guest stars Rachel Bloom, Yvette Nicole Brown, Greer Grammer, Patricia Heaton and Amy Sedaris.

In addition to Grammer, the series also stars Jack Cutmore-Scott, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro and Anders Keith. More than 20 years after its series finale, the original “Frasier” still holds the record for most Emmy wins for a comedy series with 37 wins and 107 nominations. Season 1 of the revival recently received three Primetime Emmy nominations. Season 2 of “Frasier” premieres Thursday, September 19 on Paramount+ with two episodes. New episodes debut every Thursday.


“Criminal Record” Gets Season 2 Renewal

Apple TV+’s “Criminal Record” is getting longer after the streamer ordered a Season 2 renewal for its recent hit crime thriller. Created by Paul Rutman (“Vera”) and which premiered in January, the contemporary London-set series follows two brilliant detectives — one a seasoned veteran and the other early in her career — as they clash over an old murder case after an anonymous phone call. Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo lead the cast as Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty and Detective Sergeant June Lenker, respectively; both will return for a second season.

According to the official description, the upcoming season will see June as the senior officer on the scene when a political rally is attacked by far-right extremists, leaving a young man dead and June, consumed by guilt, desperately searching for the unknown killer. Her best hope is Daniel, now a key figure in the murky world of police intelligence, who may hold the answers she needs… at the high price of a dangerous deal.

The series also stars Zoë Wanamaker, Charlie Creed-Miles, Cathy Tyson, Stephen Campbell Moore and Shaun Dooley with Dionne Brown, Tom Moutchi Aysha Kala, Jordan Nash, Georgina Rich and more. A release date for “Criminal Record” Season 2 will be announced at a later date.


Netflix Sets Sequel Dates for “Simone Biles Rising” and “SPRINT”

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games may be over (though the 2024 Paralympic Games are just beginning!), but Netflix is ​​keeping the pride and excitement alive with the continuation of two recent documentaries.

On Friday, October 25, the final two episodes of “Simone Biles Rising” will premiere on the platform. Produced by Religion of Sports in partnership with the Olympic Channel and directed by Katie Walsh, the four-part documentary series, the first part of which debuted on July 17, follows Olympian Simone Biles as she fights her way back to the top after withdrawing from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to focus on her mental health.

The highly anticipated Part 2 follows Biles as she competes at the 2024 U.S. Gymnastics Trials, qualifies for the U.S. Olympic team, through her performance at the Paris Games, where she took home three gold medals and one silver. The episodes offer intimate access as Biles shares thoughts and moments from her incredible journey to becoming the most decorated gymnast in history.

Later in November, Netflix will also premiere the second season of “SPRINT,” the new docuseries that offers exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the world’s fastest runners and “delves deep into the psyche of these elite athletes as they train to become the fastest person on the planet.” Season 1 premiered July 2 and examines top sprinters on the road and at the 2023 World Championships, including recent Team USA gold medalists Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles, former world champion and Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson, and other runners from the U.S. and around the world, as they journey from the 2023 World Championships to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Season 2 episodes feature Lyles, Jackson, Gabby Thomas, Fred Kerley, Kishane Thompson, Julien Alfred, Letsile Tebogo, Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry, Marcell Jacobs, Kenny Bednarek, Oblique Seville and other elite track athletes. Season 2 of “SPRINT” premieres Wednesday, November 13 on Netflix.


Trailer for the fourth and final season of “My Brilliant Friend” out now

HBO has begun the send-off for “My Brilliant Friend,” which premieres its fourth and final season next month. The cabler has released the official trailer for the new season of the critically acclaimed HBO-RAI drama series based on Elena Ferrante’s best-selling novels.

“My Brilliant Friend” follows the titular Elena Greco and the most important friend in her life, Raffaella “Lila” Cerullo, and spans more than 60 years of their relationship. The fourth installment in the saga, titled “Story of the Lost Child,” delves into the adult lives of Elena and Lila as “they become entangled in the turmoil of late-1980s Italy, at the end of decades of political violence and social unrest. Amid motherhood and career demands, amid betrayals, threats, disappearances and natural disasters, Elena and Lila find themselves living in the same neighborhood once again.”

Season 4 of “My Brilliant Friend” premieres Monday, September 9 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and can be simultaneously streamed on Max. New episodes debut on subsequent Mondays.


Hulu Sets Release Date for ‘Rivals’

Pick your side: Hulu has announced the premiere date for its highly anticipated original series “Rivals,” debuting Friday, October 18 in the U.S. and other territories (and Saturday, October 19 on Disney+ in the U.K.). The eight-part original blockbuster is based on the 1988 novel of the same name in Dame Jilly Cooper’s sly, sexy “Rutshire Chronicles” series and centers on the cutthroat world of independent TV “set against the drama, excess and shocking antics of the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England.”

“The Watchers” is coming to Max

Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema’s theatrical release “The Watchers” will conclude its theatrical run following its June 7 release and will make its global streaming debut on Friday, August 30, exclusively on Max.
