US Open men’s runner-up Taylor Fritz returned to the ATP top 10 on Monday at No. 7, while women’s runner-up Jessica Pegula rose to No. 3 on the WTA list.

Semi-finalist Emma Navarro climbed from No. 13 to No. 8, a career-high finish after her best performance at a major tournament.

In the men’s event, Jannik Sinner won almost twice as much as the ATP number one, a position he has held since June. He defeated Fritz 6-3, 6-4, 7-5, and in the women’s event, Aryna Sabalenka remained at number 2 in the WTA, behind Iga Swiatek, who lost in the quarterfinals to Pegula.

“I mean, I try not to focus on the rankings, honestly. It’s not like I look at where I’m going to be after the tournament,” Sabalenka said Saturday after her 7-5, 7-5 win over Pegula in the final. “I just try to focus on myself, and I know that if I can play my best tennis (at) every tournament … I can be No. 1 in the world again. So my focus is on myself, on improving myself as a player and as a person. Hopefully one day I can see myself (back) at the top of the rankings.”

Sabalenka briefly replaced Swiatek at No. 1 after finishing runner-up to Coco Gauff at last year’s US Open. Sabalenka is the only woman to have won more than one Grand Slam singles title in 2024; she won the Australian Open in January.

Last year’s Flushing Meadows champions both dropped one spot on Monday, with Gauff moving from third to sixth after being knocked out in the fourth round by Navarro, and Novak Djokovic dropping from second to fourth after being defeated in the third round by Alexei Popyrin.

Alexander Zverev is the new No. 2 in the men’s rankings, followed by Carlos Alcaraz at No. 3, while Daniil Medvedev remains at No. 5.

Andrey Rublev remains in sixth place, ahead of Fritz, who rose five places after becoming the first American in 15 years to reach a major tournament final.

Jack Draper, a 22-year-old Briton, rose from 25th to 20th, his best position ever, thanks to his first appearance in the semi-finals of a Grand Slam.

After Światek, Sabalenka and Pegula, who rose three places to equal her career high, No. 4 Elena Rybakina and No. 5 Jasmine Paolini held their rankings. Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen remained at No. 7.
