French McDonald’s threatens sauce after Stephen Curry’s Olympic performance

Stephen Curry’s gold medal performance last weekend was enough to propel the United States to the gold medal and caused McDonald’s in France to rethink one of their sauces.

The company joked on social media on Sunday that it had to revamp its classic curry sauce following the NBA superstar’s huge performance against France at the Olympics.

“For obvious reasons, we are considering removing this sauce,” McDonald’s France said on Instagram, according to a translation of the post.

The caption on the photo read: “At least 4 years.”

The French are likely feeling a little down after Curry scored 24 points and made four 3-pointers in the final three minutes of the game to help the United States win the gold medal on Saturday.

It was his three-pointer with 33 seconds left that gave the United States a nine-point lead and broke the hearts of France.

This year’s Olympic Games marked the second consecutive Summer Games in which the United States and France faced off for the gold medal.

“I’ve seen that from Steph a few times, but it never gets old,” Team USA and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters. “It’s a global sport with a lot of great players, but we still think we have the best players. They’ve all been so unselfish through it all, through all the noise, through all the pressure. We might be the only team in the world where the fans are embarrassed for them when they win a silver medal, and that’s the pressure we have to deal with.

“But our players — and you saw Steph — they love the pressure. They appreciate this atmosphere and they were fantastic.”

According to ESPN, Curry told reporters that every shot he took, he envisioned how he was going to hit it.

“All I saw was the rim. I didn’t see who was in front of me. I knew it was kind of a late-clock situation, but this one impressed me,” he said of the shot with 33 seconds left.

The Olympic fun may have been marred by a situation involving Curry’s wife Ayesha and mother Sonya, who appeared to clash with French police after the gold medal match.
