Nigel Farage is to launch a private prosecution against the youths involved in a fight at Manchester Airport that sparked protests over ‘police brutality’.

The leader of Reform UK is expected to announce the move tomorrow to emphasize what he sees as a “two-tiered justice system” in which right-wing activists are singled out by the courts for harsher treatment.

The outcry erupted in July after partial videos of the incident shared online showed an officer kicking 19-year-old Fahir Muhammed Amas while attempting to arrest him and his brother Amaad.

Tensions rose further when their lawyer Achmed Yakoob claimed the fight had been an ‘attempted murder’, sparking protests against police in the brothers’ hometown of Rochdale.

But dramatic CCTV footage then revealed the three police officers had been viciously attacked, leaving one WPC with a broken nose and another officer slumped to the ground just before the Fahir incident.

Four months later, with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) apparently no closer to announcing charges against the brothers, Farage has hired two lawyers to bring a case against them.

A source close to Mr Farage said: ‘It’s now November and no charges have been laid – but those on the right of the feud who said unpleasant things on social media and took to the streets ended up in jail almost immediately. We have a two-tiered justice system in this country.”

The Clacton MP spoke out last summer following the riots in English towns and cities following the Southport stabbings that led to the deaths of three young girls, saying those involved had been dealt with more harshly than other protests.

The storm over the Manchester incident led to fears that the officers involved would have to go into hiding as protests grew – two were suspended over the outcry and it is understood they continue to do so.

A knowledgeable source told The Mail on Sunday that after a “violent altercation” at an airport Starbucks coffee shop, three officers tried to arrest Fahir for using a parking ticket machine; He was shown resisting before Amaad threw a barrage of punches at the male police officer, who collapsed on a row of metal chairs.

Fahir was then shown lashing out, first punching a female officer in the side of the head and then punching the second female officer in the face, knocking her off her feet and leaving her sprawled on the ground.

At that point, the male officer had gotten back to his feet and pointed his Taser at Amaad. However, Fahir is shown charging into the male officer’s back, hitting him on the head and then grabbing him around the neck. It is claimed that the male officer is believed to have suffered a broken jaw and may have been temporarily rendered unconscious.

The fight only ended when the first female officer staggered and fired her Taser at Fahir, knocking him over.

It was at this point – as millions of people see in the mobile phone footage – that the male police officer kicks Fahir in the head and apparently stomps on him as he lies on the ground.

The CPS has the power to prevent private prosecutions by taking them over and ending them – but such a move would be highly controversial in this case.
