Fortnite’s New ‘Absolute Doom’ Marvel Battle Pass Revealed, Featuring War Machine, Dr. Doom

We were promised some big Fortnite reveals during Disney’s D23 event on Saturday – what else would justify an in-game livestream? – and big reveals are exactly what we got. The biggest one was that Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4, kicking off on August 16, will be a new Marvel-focused season called Absolute Doom – which includes a Battle Pass full of Marvel skins, including a new Peely named Peelverine.

What we have here in this trailer is the full reveal of the battle pass, plus a look at some of the new gameplay goodies we’ll be playing with. The battle pass lineup will consist of Gwenpool (the instant unlock), War Machine, Emma Frost, Shuri, Mysterio, Peelverine, and Captain Jonesy as the skins you unlock by leveling up, with Doctor Doom being the mid-season unlock, a la Magneto this season.

We also got a glimpse of new Marvel powers, which appear to include Shuri’s claws, War Machine’s weaponry, Iron Man’s energy blasts and flight, Captain America’s shield, and Doctor Doom’s gauntlets. It’s worth noting that we didn’t see anything from the Fantastic Four at all during this one.

That’s huge, of course, but the D23 presentation also included some other shocking things: they brought together the creative heads of Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and Marvel Studios. While they all described these collaborations as extensions of their franchise storytelling, these announcements were all about new skins.

First up, several skins based on classic Disney animated villains were revealed – Cruella DeVille, Captain Hook, and Maleficent were shown off, with the promise of a fall release, which could mean they’ll be joining Fortnitemares come October. Adding to the animated fun is the news that Fortnite will be receiving its first Pixar skins in the form of a collaboration with The Incredibles.

And while the change to Battle Pass exclusivity won’t help you get the old Mandalorian skin and Grogu Back bling, skins for IG-11 and Moff Gideon will be added to the item shop on August 12. There will also be a new Grogu Back bling available for those who missed out on the previous one.
