Fortnite fans are counting down the days until the next major update drops. Fortnite developer Epic Games has given update 31.20 a release date of September 17 on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android. It goes without saying that the major new update will come with a period of server downtime, which will begin in full at 9am BST UK time (matchmaking shuts down at around 8:30am). While there is no official downtime schedule, the servers are expected to remain offline until around 11am BST. The Daily Express will keep this article updated with the full list of patch notes, information, and official announcements on the morning of September 17.

The biggest new feature is the launch of a new, limited-time Marvel-themed game mode, featuring Marvel heroes and villains.

In Fortnite’s Day of Doom LTM, over 32 players battle it out in the ultimate battle between good and evil.

Doom’s Henchmen are tasked with collecting six Arcane Artifacts, which prevent the enemy from respawning. Eliminate the remaining Avengers and the villains will emerge victorious.

The Avengers’ allies, on the other hand, must take out Doom’s forces before they can collect the artifacts.

Epic further explains: “Doom’s minions have a large number of respawns in total. Achieve victory once you and your fellow Avengers have exhausted all of their reinforcements.”

Elsewhere, Epic Games has announced plans to release new MCU Iron Man skins and items. The Iron Man goodies will be available in the item shop starting September 17, presumably as soon as the update goes live.

LEGO Fortnite is getting The Lost Isles content, featuring new environments, Klombos, weapons, items, and more.

NEW CONTENT

• Marvel Day of Doom LTM

– 32-player multiplayer mode pitting Doom’s minions against the Avengers’ allies

– Doom’s Henchmen: Your goal is to collect all six Arcane Artefacts. Once you’ve collected them all, your opponents will no longer be able to respawn. Eliminate every hero and you’ll emerge victorious!

– Avengers: Your goal is to defeat Doom’s forces before they collect the Artifacts. Doom’s Henchmen have a large number of respawns in total – achieve victory once you + your fellow Avengers have exhausted all their reinforcements.

GENERAL

• Built-in emotes will not play in Creative/UEFN Experiences.

– We’re investigating an issue where built-in emotes, emotes tied only to certain outfits, are not playing in a Creative or UEFN experience.

• Unintentional loud noise while driving with Beskar.

– While driving or in the Beskar car, sometimes a very loud buzzing sound can be heard. Consider lowering the audio volume before getting into the car.

ROYAL BATTLE

• Players cannot switch from the first to the fifth inventory on the controller.

– Players may experience issues switching directly from 1st to 5th inventory when pressing the left mouse button on their D-pad.

• Pickaxes cannot deal damage on hit.

– After playing other game modes and then loading Battle Royale, pickaxes may no longer deal damage during a match.
