Lisicki, a former world number 12, announced her pregnancy on International Women’s Day in March. In an Instagram carousel of two photos, one image showed a beautifully decorated frame adorned with flowers and tiny white baby sandals, with the sweet message: “Surprise, baby coming in 2024.” On September 9, the German tennis star joyfully revealed Bella’s arrival, writing: “Our hearts are filled with love and happiness as we are humbled to welcome Bella into our world,” along with hashtags like #Precious, #HeartsAreFull, #Thankful and #Joy.

Fellow WTA players including Yanina Wickmayer, Timea Babos, Tamira Paszek, Shelby Rogers, Urszula Radwanska, Eva Lys and others flooded the comments with congratulations.

Lisicki’s career has been marked by determination and resilience despite numerous injuries. In November 2020, she suffered a devastating tear of her anterior cruciate ligament at the Upper Austria Ladies Open, saying she “broke everything in (her) knee that could be broken.” Despite the severity of her injury, she underwent surgery and extensive rehabilitation, making her comeback in May 2022, competing in small clay-court events.

In June 2022, Lisicki won her first main-draw match on the Hologic WTA Tour since 2018, when she played as a wildcard at the Bad Homburg Open. Her rise continued and in November 2023, she captured her first title in nine years, winning the Calgary Challenger, an ITF W60 event. Her last appearance on the tour was in December 2023 at an ITF event in Dubai.

As Lisicki begins a new chapter as a mother, her unwavering dedication to tennis and remarkable resilience continue to inspire. In her March pregnancy announcement, she humorously noted, “I think I’ll have to come back one more time.”
