Former UFC heavyweight champion names who has the best chance to beat Jon Jones from Stipe Miocic, Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira

Jon Jones has had frequent spats with fans on social media during his recovery process, and hopes to return later this year.

The UFC heavyweight champion is expected to face former champion Stipe Miocic after their bout at UFC 295 was canceled due to Jones’ injury.

Many fans are now convinced that his next opponent should be Tom Aspinall, who won the interim title and will now defend it at UFC 304 later this month.

While Aspinall took the lead, Alex Pereira was also mentioned following another dominant performance from the light heavyweight champion at UFC 303.

A former UFC champion at both heavyweight and light heavyweight, Jones’ toughest test is likely to be his next.

Randy Couture says veteran Stipe Miocic currently has the best chance to beat Jon Jones

In a recent interview with InsideFighting, Randy Couture gave his opinion on who currently poses the biggest challenge to Jones and the heavyweight title.

While he gave Aspinall and Pereira their due plaudits, Couture pointed out that their experience at the top of the heavyweight division still raises some questions for both men in potential showdowns with “Bones”.

With that in mind, “The Natural” sided with the man considered by many to be the best UFC heavyweight of all time: former champion Miocic.

It’s been three years since Miocic last stepped into the Octagon, but Couture opted to go with a familiar contender this time around.

“I think Stipe probably has the best chance of beating Jon at the moment because of his experience. Aspinall has that raw physical ability and is still green enough and young enough that he will be tough for Jon to beat, especially if Jon waits any longer because he is getting stronger and stronger every time and I think the longer Jon waits the better he will be, he will be at full speed by the time that fight happens so it will be interesting. Pereira still has something to prove, moving up is not an easy task.

“It’s one thing to lose weight and get the weight off and there’s still some questions, but to go up and deal with the bigger guys, and Jon’s already answered that question by dealing with the bigger guys, is another thing… definitely has all the ability in the world, Pereira does, and he’s a great competitor and he just showed that again. I think anyone is crazy if they don’t think you better buckle up when you step on the field with him, because he’s going to bring it.”
