Former Sky commentator Bryn Law has criticised Sky Sports’ coverage of Liverpool’s win over Brentford on Sunday.

Liverpool won 2-0 at Anfield in Arne Slot’s first home game as coach, thanks to goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.

Law argued that Sky’s coverage of the Liverpool match was too home-focused and pointed out that Brentford were not represented in the pundits’ line-up.

Law wrote on X: ‘Sky’s coverage of this Liverpool v Brentford match is effectively LFCTV – ex-players as co-comm and studio guest, LFC presenter.

‘Couldn’t they have at least got an ex-Brentford player as a second studio guest? The broadcaster’s pretence of neutrality would be a thing of the past then?’

Law, who previously worked for Sky, is currently a commentator for Leeds United’s LUTV.

Jamie Carragher, who played his entire career at Liverpool and made over 700 appearances for the club, was co-commentator with Peter Drury.

Another ex-Liverpool star, Jamie Redknapp, was a guest in the studio, while Kelly Cates, the daughter of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, was the presenter.

The other guest in the studio was former Everton and Manchester City Women’s player Izzy Christiansen. Brentford were not represented at all.

There was already a lot of attention on Liverpool, even before the first match of Super Sunday, which saw Bournemouth take on Newcastle.

The pundits were seen in the Liverpool dressing room, where they discussed players such as Virgil van Dijk, Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are all entering the final year of their contracts with the club.

Carragher’s interview with new Liverpool manager Slot was also shown.
