Former Ohio State basketball great plays for Carmen’s Crew

The Ohio State basketball program had many great players when Thad Matta was at the helm. He led the program to several Final Four appearances and a National Championship Game. Most of those players went on to have NBA careers of varying lengths.

One of those players is Jared Sullinger. Sullinger went to Ohio State after his brother JJ Sullinger decided to do so a few years earlier. Jared was by far the more talented player and won all sorts of awards while playing with the Buckeyes during his two years in Columbus.

Sullinger was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2011 and was also the Most Outstanding Player in the Big Ten Tournament. He was on the Big Ten All-Freshman team and was a Consensus First-Team All-American in both of his college seasons. Now he’s back playing with former Buckeyes.

Sullinger continues to play basketball overseas. He played five seasons in the NBA and has played in leagues overseas since then. He has played in The Basketball Tournament once before and has coached the team in each of the last few years of its operation.

Sullinger has now agreed to play for the team. This may be because he no longer plays in China and his contract does not prohibit him from doing so. Sullinger will not be playing with his former teammates this time around, as he is one of the older members of the team.

The other former Ohio State basketball players he’ll be playing with are Kyle Young, Andrew Wesson, Kaleb Wesson and Keyshawn Woods. Guys like William Buford, Jon Diebler and Aaron Craft have opted out of this year’s version of Carmen’s Crew.

This year’s TBT starts on July 19th. Carmen’s Crew is looking for their second title.
