Former Man United star wants to return to the Premier League

A former Manchester United star is aiming to return to the Premier League after failing to get his career back on track outside England.

Nemanja Matic, who left Man United in the summer of 2022, is keen to return to the Premier League to revive his career.

The former Chelsea midfielder left the Red Devils two years ago and joined Italian giants AS Roma.

His career took a different turn when he joined French club Rennes. However, his short stint at Rennes came to an end when he left the club to join Lyon.

He currently plays for Lyon and his contract runs until 2026. However, according to The Mirror, reported by the Manchester Evening News, the Serbian wants to return to the Premier League, where he was successful at Chelsea.

The midfielder has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia but he believes he can still perform at the top level and is therefore keen to return to England.

Matic didn’t make much of an impression at Man United, but his time at Chelsea was very successful.

The midfielder did not win a single trophy at Man United, but at Chelsea he did win the Premier League twice, an FA Cup and a League Cup.

He is known for his range, his ability to disrupt the game and for bringing calm to midfield with his intelligence and physical strength.

A return to Man United or Chelsea for Matic?

The former Benfica midfielder has previously discussed the option of joining the Portuguese club, but for now he has his sights set on a move to England, where he has had the best part of his career.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea have multiple options in midfield, making a return to one of his former clubs in England easily ruled out.

At 36 years old, he is expected to attract the attention of teams from the lower regions of the league, but his experience and knowledge of the game can help any team in the league, from top to bottom.
