Former Man United star storms off after heated confrontation with Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber during training in the Netherlands

A former Manchester United star has walked off the pitch after colliding with Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber during a Netherlands training session.

The attacker was angry after a foul by Timber as the Netherlands prepared for their Nations League match against Germany on Tuesday.

Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman had to intervene and separate the two.

Timber is back in the Dutch squad for the first time in over a year, after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Netherlands won 5-2 at home against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday.

Wout Weghorst was frustrated by Timber’s challenge. The striker was loaned to Manchester United by Burnley in 2023. Last month he made the switch to Ajax.

According to The Metro, Koeman tried to make peace, saying: ‘I said something to you, I said something to them.’

Weghorst continued to express his frustration, to which Koeman replied: ‘And now it’s over!’.

The 32-year-old Weghorst remained on the sidelines for a while after the incident.

After training ended, Weghorst immediately left the training field and took off his training shirt.

Koeman later confirmed that Weghorst, who was among the goalscorers against Bosnia, had not suffered an injury.

Weghorst has scored 13 goals in 40 games for the Netherlands since his international debut in 2018.
