Former Iranian President Ahmedinejad claims Mossad infiltration

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad claimed that the Mossad had made widespread infiltration of Iran’s intelligence services in a Monday interview with CNN in Turkey.

According to the former president of the Islamic Republic, Iranian intelligence services have established a specific unit intended to combat the activities of Israel’s Mossad in the country. Nevertheless, he claimed, Israeli agents infiltrated the unit itself.

Ahmadinejad said the head of the secret unit was a Mossad agent and that another 20 Israeli agents worked alongside him.

According to his account, these agents were responsible for a significant number of intelligence operations in Iran, including the theft of documents related to Iran’s nuclear program and the elimination of several Iranian nuclear scientists.

According to Ynet, in the CNN interview, Ahmadinejad said that it became clear to them in 2021 that the highest-ranking person in the country whose job it was to handle Israeli intelligence operations in Iran was an agent of the Mossad.

“Israel organized complex operations inside Iran. They could obtain information quickly. In Iran they are still silent about this. The man who led the unit in Iran against Israel – was an Israeli agent.” Ynet Ahmadinejad quoted in the CNN interview.

Claimed multiple officers were undercover

According to the former president of Iran, twenty other members of that unit were Mossad agents in addition to him. He claimed that they were the ones who managed to steal the Iranian nuclear documents and were also responsible for killing Iranian nuclear scientists.

Ahmadinejad was president of Iran until 2013.

He was succeeded by Hassan Rouhani, and his former chief of staff – former Intelligence Minister Ali Younisi – admitted in a 2022 interview that “the Mossad has infiltrated many government departments over the past decade, to such an extent that all the country’s governments top officials must fear for their lives,” the organization said Ynet.
