Former Belhaven softball player Kennedy Carruth has joined the Blazers coaching staff

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Kennedy Carruth is hanging up her cleats and moving from starting pitcher to pitching coach.

On Monday, Belhaven softball head coach Kevin Griffin announced the newest member of his coaching staff via social media. Carruth will keep her talents at Belhaven, but instead of utilizing her talents inside the circle, she will be in the dugout.

She’s baack! I would love to have her in the circle for another year, but I am happy to announce that Kennedy Carruth will be our new pitching coach @BelhavenSB_ ! As one of the most decorated pitchers in @NCAADIII history, she will have an immediate impact on our staff! @NFCAorg pic.twitter.com/xrIlfaY1bI

“I am so blessed and excited for this next chapter to open,” Carruth said in a message.

In her final season with the Blazers, the star pitcher finished with 289 strikeouts and was the 2024 CCS Pitcher of the Year.

After leading her team to the D3 College World Series, the Blazers fell short in the championship game, but made softball history in Belhaven by becoming the first team to make the D3 College World Series.

The NFCA First-Team All-American has made her mark on the diamond and will now pass on her pitching knowledge to the incoming starting pitcher from Belhaven.
