With a free gym, various activities, food trucks and a playground for children, Dubai Sports World (DSW) is bigger than ever before this year.

This year, all the favorite sports – including volleyball, tennis, cricket, padel, pickleball and table tennis – are back at DSW.

Spread over 30,000 square metres, the 14th edition offers 10 sporting activities across 40 courts, making it the largest indoor sports destination in the region.

In addition, various free activities are being organized for residents this summer. Here’s a taste of what you can expect from DSW:

Basketball

The basketball court has been upgraded to a professional court. Ex-NBA player Dale Ellis and Indian actor Rannvijay Singha dribbled across the court as they played a friendly match at the destination on Tuesday.

Teqball

The sport is played on a curved table with a ball, such as is usually used in football. Teqball is one of the newest additions to DSW. Players can hit the ball with any part of their body except their arms and hands, and is usually played in a best-of-three set.

Fitness center

The CrossFit gym with the most modern equipment is completely free for visitors. It is open from 8am to 12pm and offers residents the opportunity to work on their fitness during the summer.

Cricket

This year there are several fields for cricket enthusiasts to choose from. Two of them are equipped with bowling machines, which deliver all kinds of balls, including spin and fastball, so players can practice their strokes.

Playing field

With inflatable castles, a rock climbing area and lots of other fun activities, the children’s zone is bigger than last year. Parents can drop their children off at the Kids World corner while they enjoy some exercise or sports.

Community activities

In an effort to be inclusive, DSW opens its doors to all community members. “There are days when we bring in the elderly to play on our courts,” said Mahir Julfar, Executive Vice President of Dubai World Trade Center. “There are also days when delivery drivers, taxi drivers and other community members can come and play here.”

Badminton

With 18 indoor courts, badminton enthusiasts have a huge surface to practice their sport this summer. Those wishing to book one of the courses can do so on the DSW website with prices starting from Dh50 per hour.

Free events

In addition to the sporting events, DSW organizes several free events for residents to participate in, including a running club and yoga classes. There are also plans for HIIT sessions and other workouts.
