Flavor Flav Unveils Custom Bronze Clock He Made for Jordan Chiles Amid Paris Olympics Medal Controversy

The 2024 Olympics may be over, but their spirit lives on—thanks to Flavor Flav.

After learning about the controversy surrounding the women’s floor final, the rapper made sure that USA team’s Jordan Chiles wouldn’t be left empty-handed.

Chiles, 23, was stripped of her bronze medal this week for her third-place finish in the women’s floor exercise final on August 5, following a controversial ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

To soften the blow, the 65-year-old creator of the hit “Fight The Power” wanted to give the athlete a special piece of jewelry that she can keep as a souvenir of this year’s Games.

“Ayyy YOOOO @ChilesJordan,” he wrote on X Sunday. “I’m gonna make you a BRONZE BELL NECKLACE,,, and that’s something NO ONE else has!!! Message me girl,,, I got you,!!!”

Just one day later, the rapper made good on his promise.

“The US will fight the powers that be…in the meantime I will always be a man of my word @ChilesJordan,” he wrote in a follow-up post.

The jewel-encrusted watch, the size of a medal, can be worn as a necklace and is set with diamonds.

“Flavor Flav got a clockmaker on standby or something,” one fan wrote, before the rapper revealed the piece was made by Keliz of the ROCK’N STONES, who is known for her blinged-out clocks.

The pleasant surprise came just days after controversy erupted following the women’s floor final.

Romanian Ana Barbosu was initially considered the bronze medalist, but Team USA successfully petitioned for reconsideration, leaving Chiles on the podium with teammate Simone Biles. The pair bowed to Brazilian gold medalist Rebeca Andrade in a remarkable photo.

But six days later, the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Team USA’s appeal was filed after the one-minute deadline, effectively invalidating it.

At that point, Barbosu and teammate Maneca-Voinea moved up one spot and tied with a score of 13.700, giving Barbosu bronze, while Chiles moved back up to fifth place with a score of 13.666.

Barbosu later expressed her feelings about the situation.

“Sabrina, Jordan, my thoughts are with you,” Barbosu, 18, wrote on her Instagram Story, referring to compatriot Maneca-Voinea, who finished fourth.

“I know what you feel, because I’ve been through the same thing. But I know you’ll come back stronger. I hope from the bottom of my heart that at the next Olympic Games, all three of us will be on the same podium. That’s my true dream!”

Barbosu also criticized Olympic officials, who reversed their ruling on who claimed the third podium spot.

“This situation would not have existed if those responsible had respected the regulations,” Barbosu wrote. “We, athletes, cannot be blamed and the hatred directed at us is painful. I wanted to end this edition of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in the spirit of Olympism, the true value of the world.”

Team USA is now appealing the decision, claiming they have video evidence that shows they filed the investigation within 47 seconds of the judge’s ruling.

They plan to continue the appeal, which will involve taking the case to the Swiss Federal Court.

Flavor Flav, in turn, was one of Team USA’s main hype players during the 2024 Games.

The rapper has been vocal about his support for female athletes on several occasions, even donating over $7,000 alongside Serena Williams’ husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian to track star Veronica Fraley, who was struggling to pay her rent.
