Flavor Flav Gives Jordan Chiles a Bronze Stopwatch Necklace at MTV VMAs

During the Best Collaboration award ceremony at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Flavor Flav presented Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles with her own diamond-encrusted bronze stopwatch as a token of sympathy after her medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics was stripped following a dispute over a scoring appeal.

“I just want to turn this into a little Olympic moment, if you guys don’t mind,” Flavor Flav said as the crowd erupted in applause. “Ay yo Jordan, I know they tried to take your medal away, but you know what? I got you something they can’t take away.”

Flavor Flav pulled the oversized pocket watch chain from his back pocket and placed it around Chiles’ neck. “Wow, I don’t even know what to say to that,” she said. “Thank you so much.”

Flavor Flav swapped his snapback for a water polo cap, adding, “As you guys know, I’m an official sponsor of the U.S. Olympic Water Polo team, so I wanted to turn this into an Olympic moment. And guess what? I also got your prize money. I just wanted to surprise you guys with that.”

In July, the Hall of Fame rapper signed a five-year sponsorship deal with the U.S. men’s and women’s national water polo teams. Following the announcement of his commitment, Flavor Flav said in a statement to USA Water Polo, “As a father of a girl and a champion of all sports, I’m excited to bring my energy and voice to this incredible sport. Niche sports often don’t get the attention they deserve, but they are filled with incredible talent and heart. Together, we’re going to make some serious waves!”
