Flames ready for busy 2024 NHL Draft

The 2024 NHL Draft is just around the corner and the Flames will take center stage in Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday.

CalgaryFlames.com will get extensive Draft coverage from Sphere, while Sportsnet will broadcast the event live. Round 1 starts Friday at 5:50 PM MT, while rounds 2-7 take place on Saturday, starting at 9:30 AM MT.

Calgary will be one of the busiest teams at this year’s NHL Draft, with nine total picks – eight of the nine set for the first four rounds.

The Flames are selected multiple times in the first round of the same draft for the fourth time in franchise history. It is also only the second time since the club moved to Calgary in 1980.

Calgary’s nine picks are the most the team has held in a single Draft since 2016, and only the third time in the past two decades that the Flames have had the privilege of selecting nine or more players in a single NHL Draft.

The team earned an additional first-rounder (No. 28) and fourth-rounder from the Vancouver Canucks in the January trade that brought Andrei Kuzmenko to Calgary, while the club also picked up additional second- and third-round selections in deals with the Dallas Stars. and Vegas Golden Knights, respectively.

Only three teams — Montreal, San Jose and Utah — have more than the nine picks allocated to the Flames this year.

Here’s a look at where Calgary will pick at the 2024 NHL Draft:
