1954 – 2024

Findlay Jessamine, born on December 10, 1954 in Rutherglen, Scotland, to John and Cecilia Jessamine, passed away on July 6, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He made a remarkable name for himself in Northern Utah, where he was cherished by his community and family.

He enrolled in both wrestling and football at Davis High, graduating in 1973 and was admired for his raw power. He was also a member of the FFA and a life member of The American Legion.

Findlay served his country with honor as a Combat Engineer Heavy Equipment Operator in the Army Reserves 321st Engineer Battalion. His dedication and service were a testament to his strong character and commitment to his country.

Findlay was a man of many passions, he enjoyed golfing and dancing, and brought joy and laughter to those around him. His love for his work was evident in his impressive 55 year career at J&J Nursery, where he was respected and admired by his colleagues and customers.

Findlay is survived by his brothers, John and Stephen Jessamine, and his sisters, Euphemia Workman (Stan Williams) and Jacqueline Jessamine. He also leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with his eight nieces and nephews; 15 great-nephews and great-nieces who meant so much to him.

Findlay’s warmth, humor and dedication to both his family and his work will be greatly missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Friends and family may gather at Myers Mortuary, 250 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The memorial service will begin at 5:00 PM. Following the service, a gathering to celebrate Findlay’s life will be held at the American Legion in Clearfield from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
