FHP is investigating a fatal crash on Interstate 10 in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, FL (WMBB) – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal semi-truck crash on Interstate 10.

Monday around 8:30 p.m., a semi-truck was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 72 as a pickup truck pulled in front of the semi-truck. FHP said the semi was traveling faster than the pickup and collided with the truck.

After the collision, the pickup went off the highway and struck trees, while the semi came to a controlled stop on the westbound shoulder.

Officials said the driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation.
