BMW Championship Preview

The second of three playoff events is here, and the PGA Tour is in Colorado. The top 50 players in the FedEx Cup standings will play on the 8,130-yard, par-72 Castle Pines Golf Club course. The ball will fly much further, though, as the course is 6,200 feet above sea level.

Defending champion Viktor Hovland looks to be back in form after a tough season filled with ups and downs with his swing. He tied for second place with Xander Schauffele at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, moving up 41 spots in the rankings.

Don’t write him off, as Hovland is becoming more consistent. He could win back-to-back BMW Championships. After his performance in Memphis, the former Oklahoma State Cowboy is on a roll.

Hideki Matsuyama held off both boys to win the first playoff event. He fell apart on the back nine at TPC Southwind, but two birdies on 17 and 18 were enough to win his 10th PGA Tour event. The victory also moved him to No. 3 in the points.

Scottie Scheffler snuck in a Top 5 finish despite not having his best performance and is one of the favorites to win this week.

Rory McIlroy is hoping to bounce back from a terrible performance in Memphis, where he finished tied for 68th. Perhaps it was a rude awakening for him, and he will be back to his old self in Colorado.

Nick Dunlap crept into the Top 50 with his T5 finish at Memphis. He’s one to watch as he’s long off the tee and has a lot of confidence now. Ludvig Åberg was quiet at Memphis, but this course suits his game. Watch him make some moves and reach Atlanta for the first time.

This week another exciting battle is on the program to see who can climb the rankings the fastest and secure a spot in the Top 30.

Stay tuned for the starting times for rounds 1 and 2.
