FD men arrested for weapons, assault | News, sports, jobs

WEBSTER CITY – Two Fort Dodge men have been arrested in Hamilton County after a fight led to a gun being fired from a vehicle early Friday morning.

According to Webster City police, Tanner James Spencer, 27, of Fort Dodge, was arrested shortly after 9 a.m. near the Webster City Veterinary Clinic on the city’s east side. Two firearms and ammunition were found in his vehicle at the time of the incident. arrest.

Following an investigation, Webster City Police determined that Spencer was involved in an altercation with William Charles Ervin Curtis, 53, also of Fort Dodge. The altercation escalated when Spencer pulled out a gun and cycled into the room in an attempt to scare Curtis, police reported. It continued when Spencer fired the gun in what officers say “an act of self-defense.”

Spencer has been charged with discharging a firearm within city limits, a simple misdemeanor. Curtis is charged with simple assault, also a simple misdemeanor.

No one was injured when the weapon was fired.

The Webster City Police Department was assisted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Hamilton County Attorney’s Office.
