Farsley Celtic Deaf loses in the cup final – but celebrates the season with triple success

Farsley Celtic Deaf narrowly missed out on a quadruple trophy win this season after losing the FA Disability Cup final to rivals St John’s DFC.

In the match, which was shown live on TNT Sport yesterday, St John’s defeated Farsley Celtic 2-1 in the Deaf Cup final to defend their title.

A spokesman for Farsley Celtic Deaf said: “Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, St John’s held on to their lead until the final whistle.

“We think it’s fair to say we let ourselves down in the first half but showed our true colours in the second half, hitting the post twice and having a chance in the dying seconds but it wasn’t meant to be.

“Full respect to St John’s DFC, we hope Byron Down makes a speedy recovery. Thank you to TNT and the English Football Association for organizing a great football weekend. We will be back next season after a well-deserved break.”

This season dragged The Celts won three prizes in hearing and deaf football:

  • England Deaf Football League and Cup doubles 2023/24
  • West Riding FA Premier League Champions 2023/24
  • They also finished third in the 2023/24 Deaf Champions’ League in Athens, Greece and were 2023/24 EDF National Futsal Champions and 2023/24 EDF Youth Futsal Champions.
