Fantasy Football Traffic Cop: Week 4 Lineup Advice

The following is an excerpt from the latest edition of Yahoo’s fantasy football newsletter, Get to the Points! If you like what you see, you can subscribe for free here.

Scott Pianowski gives his green light, yellow light and red light to help you make your toughest start/sit decisions in Week 4.

✅ Green light

He’s a must-start until further notice, fresh off his “Hello, NFL” game Monday. Arizona’s defense is also a mess; this game has a juicy total of 50.5, the highest on the card.

The Andy Dalton pitch lifts all boats in the Carolina offense. Diontae Johnson is also highly recommended, provided he clears Friday’s practice.

His return was better than the box score suggests, and Joe Burrow is starting to look healthy again as well.

With Nico Collins a bit banged up and Tank Dell unlikely to play, Diggs gets a boost to his touchdown equity.

The preferred streamer defense of the week as the Raiders host a shuffling Deshaun Watson.

🫤 Yellow light

I wouldn’t say the Chiefs’ offense is broken, but it probably needs an overhaul. Mahomes has just one 20-point game in his last 12 starts.

I can’t imagine any fantasy manager having a star like that, but Miami’s quarterback room is scary with Tua Tagovailoa unavailable.

The Bears should probably try something different after three scrappy D’Andre Swift games, but any Chicago defenseman will struggle to gain traction behind a spotty offensive line.

You’re probably eager to call him up after Week 3’s breakout, but his value is directly tied to the injury status of George Kittle (trending up) and Deebo Samuel (longer chance to return).

It’s important that the Jets find creative ways to get Wilson away from shutting down CB Patrick Surtain II. Wilson is too good to sit on the bench, but be realistic with expectations.

🛑 Red light

He’s talented enough to take away 30 points at any time, but until he shows some consistency and better decision-making, he’s best left on fantasy football benches. Richardson also draws what is arguably the NFL’s best defense.

He isn’t the first option on this offense, and even if QB Jordan Love returns, the Packers might want to protect him against an aggressive, surging Minnesota defense.

If anyone has the right answer in this passing game, it’s him. But with Justin Herbert not yet confirmed for Sunday, we have to withdraw Johnston’s optimism.

He’s stuck at 3.2 YPC, not doing much in the passing game and has yet to score a touchdown. Alexander Mattison is an average player, but he might be the best option in Vegas’ backfield.
