Fans are sent into a spiral over this billionaire’s decision to stop Kamala Harris’ endorsement

Fans are sent into a spiral over this billionaire’s decision to stop Kamala Harris’ endorsementRumors are swirling about how Washington Post crafted the perfect endorsement copy for the Democratic Party and how Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ensured it never saw the light of day.

I won’t even try to downplay the level of unprecedented movement that has just been made. For the first time in three decades, the Washington Post will head into Election Day on neutral ground.

Some say Elon Musk is pushing his fellow billionaires to walk away from the established norm of supporting Democrats.

Some say it goes much deeper than that. Others are honestly reading a lot into Kamala Harris’ proposed tax plans. So with everything that’s happening right now, what’s good and what’s not good?

Washington Post claims that by not supporting a presidential candidate, they are merely returning to their roots

Beyoncé is currently rallying support for Kamala Harris, but you know who won’t be? Washington Post, that’s who. And it’s not for lack of trying.

According to the Columbia Journalism Review, the Post’s editorial staff had already prepared an endorsement copy of Harris with the support of editorial page editor David Shiple before Lewis closed it, leading to widespread shock within the publication. In light of this, Robert Kagan, the editor-in-chief of the Washington Post, resigned from the newspaper.

Insiders claim the decision to end the endorsement ultimately came from Bezos, making him the second billionaire to block a major publication from endorsing a candidate within days. This decision was mentioned “cowardice” by editor-in-chief Martin Baron.

According to the Post, not only are they breaking a tradition that has existed for 36 years, but they will continue to adhere to it in the future.

This did not go down well with several employees, who protested by co-signing an article condemning the decision. Angry readers also flooded the email inboxes of several staffers demanding answers.

Jeff Bezos joins Patrick Soon-Shiong in killing a Kamala Harris endorsement

Even though Bezos’ assassination order seems to be generating the most reaction and coverage, he is certainly not the only billionaire who has kept the newspaper from making a political endorsement in recent years.

Billionaire Soon-Shiong prevented the Los Angeles Times from publicly endorsing Kamala Harris, prompting editor-in-chief Mariel Garza to resign from her position.

Soon-Shiong claimed the reason for this was the newspaper’s failure to provide a neutral analysis of both candidates.
