Fan outrage after new season makes Diablo 4 game ‘unplayable’

Diablo4 has been riddled with bugs since season 5, ranging from slowdowns and glitches in Sanctuary to full-blown crashes, controller issues, tempering problems, and even boss rewards and chests dropping incorrectly.

For many Diablo4 players, season five has become “unplayable.” The playerbase is in an uproar over the bugs, with reports this week including PlayStation 5 crashes, controllers freezing and opening chat, Legion Event chests not spawning loot, and even the Infernal Hordes not rewarding chests at the end of the run.

The problems have now become so bad that players are calling on Blizzard to delay seasons and patches altogether if they are that bad.

Worse yet, the latest reports appear to be the tip of the iceberg, as Sanctuary falls apart. One player has accidentally killed their own character, which shouldn’t be possible. Others have been stuck on getting rings and amulets as loot, and several major story missions have been cut entirely because they won’t load.

It’s safe to say that season five has started off with a bang, and not in a good way. That said, it’s not all bad news: a now-fixed Umbracrux bug gave lucky Diablo4 players an extreme amount of experience, while the Season Four Tempers were accidentally carried over from Season Four characters to Season Five characters. This meant that players could upgrade their loot very quickly with the resource.

One player even noticed an “awesome” bug today that turned his character into a being of darkness with the Wings of the Faith back cosmetic he received when pre-ordering the Ultimate Edition for the game. Ship of hate extension.

Good or bad, Blizzard has yet to formally comment on any of these issues (other than saying the Temper transfer was “okay”). Adam Fletcher, of the devil director of community development, has told fans that things are being worked on; the Umbracrux bug seems to be the main issue they are working on for now.

If you’ve been experiencing Diablo 4 bugs this season (which seems very likely), check Diablo 4’s Blizz Tracker or contact the support team for assistance.
