Faker now has more LoL skins than a quarter of the game’s champions

We are just a week away from the long-awaited release of the League of Legends World Championship skin set inspired by T1’s victory in Korea last year—making it Faker’s seventh skin. Funnily enough, the 28-year-old mid laner now has more skins honoring him than nearly a quarter of champions actually have skins.

This fact has not gone unnoticed Competition community this week, with one eagle-eyed Redditor listing all 41 champions who now have less complete cosmetics than the Unkillable Demon King. Faker’s “collection” includes next week’s T1 Orianna skin, his three hall-of-famer skins Ahri and LeBlanc, and older cosmetics for Ryze, Syndra, and Zed, each representing a Summoner’s Cup he’s won over the years.

Most of the champions who don’t have as many skins as Faker are either relatively new or widely unpopular, but there are a few outliers in the group; Viego (13th), Kayn (24th), Smolder (25th), and Lillia (30th) all have pick rates above 7.5 percent, according to stats website U.GG at the moment, and yet you’ll find more Faker skins than any of them.

Some of the other champions in the pool without skins have been in the game even longer than Faker’s career, while in terms of skins he is equal to Zilean, who is celebrating his 15th anniversary in Competition this year. What makes the statistic even funnier is Faker’s insistence on never using any cosmetics while playing; not even that $400 Immortalized Ahri skin that celebrated his Hall of Legends induction earlier this year.

“When is he going to be a champion himself?” one player said, leading to much discussion about how Riot could immortalize Faker in-game; from including the mid laner as a shopkeeper to having him grow into an eventual teacher in the game’s tutorial, with so many skins he might as well join the Competition list at the moment.

We’ll see if Faker is able to add an eighth Competition will be added to the collection later this year as T1 prepares for the LCK Summer Finals and the 2024 World Cup.
