Evanilson: Bournemouth sign Brazilian striker on club record deal

Bournemouth have completed the signing of Brazilian striker Evanilson from Porto in a record £40.2million move.

The 24-year-old Evanilson scored 60 goals in 154 games for Porto during his four years in Portugal.

The Cherries will pay an initial fee of £31.7million, with the option of a further £8.5million if certain conditions are met, making him their most expensive signing.

Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “Evanilson is a highly sought-after striker and bringing him to the club for a club-record fee demonstrates our ambition and intentions.

“Having scored 25 goals last season, including goals in the Champions League, we believe his experience and qualities, despite his age of 24, will help us realise our ambitions for the future.

“We are known to be keen to bring a striker to the club and the fact that we were able to complete this deal so quickly is thanks to our recruitment team.”

Evanilson is a two-time Brazilian international and won his first cap at the highest level earlier this year.

He was part of Brazil’s squad for the Copa America and came on as a substitute when Brazil were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Uruguay.

The new signing will wear the number nine shirt that became vacant when Dominic Solanke signed for Tottenham in a £65million deal earlier this month.
