Eva Mendes hints she will only act again if it is with husband Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes has reflected on her decision to quit acting, hinting that she would only want to return to the screen if it was with her husband Ryan Gosling.

Mendes and Gosling first met playing a couple in Derek Cianfrance’s 2012 crime drama The place beyond the pines. They appeared together again in the 2014 fantasy thriller Lost riverwritten and directed by Gosling.

Mendes has not appeared in a film since, although she did do vocal work in the children’s series Bluish.

In a new interview with Sunday times, Mendes said: “I was never in love with acting. I don’t mean this to be self-deprecating, but I wasn’t a great actress. I have had my moments where I worked with great people.”

She added that her two films with Gosling are the work she is most proud of, explaining, “He brings something out of me that has never been accessible before.”

Mendes went on to say that she felt like she was typecast a lot during her 16-year acting career and that she would probably only return to acting if Gosling was involved. “That’s the one thing I’d like to do,” she said.

Mendes said last month Good morning America‘s George Stephanopoulos that she wasn’t sure if she would appear in front of the camera again. “I don’t know,” she said. “If there are – you know – if there are interesting roles.”

Since retiring from acting, Mendes has written a picture book for children, Desi, Mami and the endless worrieswhich aims to destigmatize fear in children.

“It’s a buddy story about this little girl and her brain,” says the Tow bar said actor. “And Desi has these endless worries – I have them too – and she’s trying to work with her brain to make sure it’s not being a bully to her by sending all these negative thoughts to her. way and that it is like a BFF to her. And so it’s about that relationship.”

“I want to open dialogue and promote conversation,” Mendes added.

Mendes has also previously said she felt “so happy” to be able to spend more time with her two daughters, Esmerelda, 10, and Amada, eight, who she shares with Gosling.

“It felt like a no-brainer. I’m so lucky, and I thought, if I could have this time with my kids. Because acting puts you on location, it keeps you away,” she said.

“It was almost like a non-verbal agreement: ‘Okay, he goes to work and I go to work.’ I’m just going to work here,” she explained. “He went and he did his job. He’s just very good at his job. And he did it and he came home.
