European giants eye Aston Villa star despite recent arrival

Barcelona are reportedly still interested in signing Amadou Onana from Aston Villa, despite the midfielder only recently arriving at the club.

After an incredible season under Unai Emery, which saw the Spanish manager guide the club back to the Champions League for the first time since the 1980s, Aston Villa fans will no doubt be excited about the new campaign.

Despite losing Douglas Luiz, arguably their best midfielder, during the summer transfer window, the club invested heavily in Onana from Everton, who reportedly joined the club for £50million.

The Belgian international was one of the bright spots in Sean Dyche’s team last season, his monstrous midfield qualities combined with his technical superiority making him a sought-after man during the transfer window.

Barcelona interested in Aston Villa player

Despite only recently signing a contract at Villa Park, Barcelona are still said to be interested in a move for the midfielder.

According to reports from MARCA, the Catalan club are still interested in him, as Deco, like Joshua Kimmich, has a lot of respect for him.

Despite their excellent home record last season, Emery’s side have already dropped points at Villa Park, losing their second game of the season to Arsenal.

Onana will face his old club Everton on Saturday night, hoping they can end their poor run of home games and take home all three points.
