Eritrean Cyclist Biniam Girmay Triumphs in 12th Stage of Tour de France

Eritrean cyclist Biniam Girmay emerged victorious in the 12th stage of the prestigious Tour de France, narrowly defeating Wout van Aert. This victory marks Girmay’s continued dominance, as he consolidates his hold on the green jersey with a 107-point lead over Jasper Philipsen.

Girmay expressed his satisfaction post-race, highlighting the crucial support from his team. ‘When everyone came together, I felt super good, and I said on the radio, ‘give me support and I can deliver’. So I’m just super happy,’ he shared.

The day held mixed fortunes for other riders. Van Aert, who found himself boxed in during the final sprint, acknowledged the close contest. Meanwhile, reigning champion Tadej Pogacar maintained his overall lead despite a quiet day for general classification contenders. Slovenian rider Primoz Roglic faced setbacks due to a late-stage crash.
