Epke selected for the 2024 U.S. Women’s National Team

SPARKS, Maryland. – James Madison lacrosse forward Maddie Epke has been selected to the 2024 U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team, USA Lacrosse announced Tuesday.

Epke and the team will travel to Hong Kong, China to participate in the 2024 U20 Women’s Championship, from August 15 to 25. The field of participants consists of 20 teams from different countries around the world.

“I feel it is a huge honor to play for our country and be chosen from the best to compete,” Epke said. “I am excited to learn from new, great coaches and great players around me!”

The Guilford, Conn. native recently completed her sophomore season, setting a new JMU single-season draw control record of 178 and ranking sixth in the nation in draw controls per game (8.90). She finished the season second on the team in five statistical categories, including goals (57) and points (80).

Her record-breaking season earned her numerous postseason honors, including ILWomen All American Honorable Mention, USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention, IWLCA First Team All-South Region and American Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference.

Additionally, she was named to the 2024 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, was named IWLCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week twice and won four weekly AAC awards.

Epke is about to take on another JMU attacker Hannah Lewis on August 17, when Lewis plays for the Puerto Rico national team in the tournament.
