Epic Fantasy Football Team Names for the 2024 NFL Season

A fantasy football team never looks better than after the draft. It’s loaded with stars, breakout prospects, and CLEAR winners of the league. But even if the team is in good shape going into Week 1, you still need to make sure you finish one Final, crucial step.

You must NAME your team!

(I’m told that naming your fantasy football team is neither That important nor That (essential, but I don’t know, because for me it is!)

Yes, I think it is very important to name my teams, terribly seriously (maybe if I spent less time thinking of team names and more time on draft strategy I’d have more championship rings, but hey, that doesn’t matter). Every time I join a new league I immediately change my team name to “TBD” (To Be Determined) until the draft. Once I sign my first round player I either name my team something related to him or find a combination of players to play with.

(Here’s an example: Last season I drafted Breece Hall with a mid-round pick. When it became clear he would play right away, I changed my name to “Breece Yourselves.” It was both a fun team name and a threat to my teammates.

…I finished in ninth place. That’s life.)

This is an easy way to come up with a name (and it’s my superstitious way of hoping that one of my favorite draft picks will lead me to the promised land), but this is just how I do it: there are so many ways YOU can come up with YOUR team’s name.

Below you’ll find some of the most unique, creative, and hilarious team names from the Yahoo Fantasy community, based on the theme of player names.

What are you going to do with your 30 characters when it comes time to come up with a name for your team?

Bijan Robinson seems like the perfect name (first or last) to build a fantasy team name around. He’s also one of the most exciting running backs for 2024, a clear first-round pick.

Even if you like ketchup more than mustard or Woody more than Buzz, you have to admit that these names are pretty good.

This is one of those team names that I think is perfect. Not only does it fit George Pickens’ name beautifully, but it also fits the Steelers current WR corps as a whole.

Outside of Pickens, it’s unlikely a Steeler wide receiver will be drafted this season. It’s poor indeed.

This one is too easy and shows how easy it is to come up with a catchy team name.

And it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have Jalen Hurts on your fantasy team in 2023, as he finished second overall in fantasy scoring among quarterbacks.

‘Sherlock Mahomes’ and ‘Post Mahomes’

Patrick Mahomes is probably the most recognizable name in the NFL right now. Casual fans and diehards alike are well aware of Quarterback God himself.

So it makes sense that his name would fit in with other recognizable figures in pop culture — and that’s without even mentioning the variations you can do with Mahomes’ last name (“Hangin’ with my Mahomies,” anyone?).

The North Pole Express wasn’t the greatest Christmas movie, but it wasn’t exactly terrible either. Sounds a lot like Tony Pollard’s 2023 season.

Pollard didn’t live up to expectations and his ADP last season, let’s hope he finds success in his new home with the Titans.

“Hakuna Matata” means “No Worries” and fantasy managers who picked up Puka Nacua off the waiver wire last season Certainly had no worries.

Nacua was an absolute game-changer last season, making rookie history and dispelling the notion that league-winning wide receivers don’t make it onto the waiver wire. No worries, indeed.

Hahaha.

Chances are, if you drafted Sam LaPorta last season, you had a huge position advantage over your fellow players in the league. If you do, the chances of your team ending up in… well, Dixieland are slim.

In this last case, let’s talk about the Lions’ tremendous offense.

Jahmyr Gibbs may have had to deal with David Montgomery throwing a bunch of short touchdowns, but man, was Gibbs a highlight reel waiting to happen every time he touched the ball. I’m sure plenty of fantasy managers will want to do it again (no pun intended — or is it?) with Gibbs in 2024.
